This coin was issued in celebration of the Perth mint's presence at the world money fair in Berlin 2012.

The first Silver Koala to carry a privy mark – and therefore of major interest to collectors – this unique, exclusive coin was naturally targeted by the record-breaking crowds of German collectors attending the 2012 Berlin World Money Fair. An emblem of the city for centuries, the bear has dominated Berlin's Coat of Arms since 1920, and is one of Germany's most distinctive, most internationally recognisable symbols.

Obverse features a bright-eyed baby joey watches us from the fork of a gum or eucalyptus tree, while itself being observed by the watchful eye of the mother koala. The Perth Mint "P" mint mark is judiciously located in the bark of the right fork of the tree at the 2:30 position near the rim. The legend "1 OZ 999 SILVER" guarantees the weight and purity. The legend "AUSTRALIAN KOALA" and the date are also indicated. The coat of arms of the German city of Berlin, including a rampant heraldic bear on a shield, appears above.

Reverse features Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England, in crowned profile facing right. This portrait, featuring Her Majesty wearing a tiara and pearl earrings, was executed by the sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend "ELIZABETH II", the date of issue and denomination also appear.

Limited Privy edition of just 35,000 coins.
