Mint State is a term used to describe a coin's condition and commonly refers to coins that have never been in circulation. Mint state coins are also described as 'new' or 'uncirculated' (Unc.). There are various classification grades ranging from 70 for a coin that is in perfect or 'mint' condition to MS-60 for coins that, although uncirculated, might have flaws like surface blemishes or a weak strike.
