Carl Albert was King of Sardinia between 1831 and 1849 and left collectors and investors a round piece of gold, the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin. The coin displayed on our website dates from 1834, a valuable gold bullion coin for numismatists around the globe.

The 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin weighs overall, the gold weight plus the alloy, 6.40 grams at a purity of 90.00% gold, or 21.6 carats, therefore we can draw the conclusion that the gold weight is 5.81 grams. It is a standard weight for all the three Italian coins offered by our website. The diameter measures 21 mm.

The obverse of the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin illustrates the portrait of Carl Albert who is facing left. It is a bear headed portrait, beautifully simple and majestic. The inscriptions present on the head side of the obverse are "CAR ALBERTVS D G REX SARD CYP ET HIER". It is also inscribed the issuing year of the coin, "1834".

The reverse of the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin depicts the crowned Savoy dynasty coat of arms encircled by a laurel wreath. The legend on this side of the coin reads: "L 20" at the bottom of the coin which is the face value of 20 Lire and "DVX SAB GENVAE ET MONTISF PRINC PED".

If making a comparison between the prices of the three Italian gold bullion coins, 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin, 20 Lire Umberto I gold coin, and 20 Lire Emanuelle gold coin, which are available on our website, the first thing noticed by everyone would be that the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin is the most expensive one because it is also the one that has more years since it was minted, almost 200 years.

The reality behind the price of these Italian bullion coins is that they are really affordable even though their bullion characteristics are not to be ignored. Therefore, investing into the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin or in other Italian coin or even in all three gold bullion coins, will not be expensive.

We can only say that these Italian bullion coins, among which is the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin, that represent the Savoy dynasty are not appreciated at their true collecting value and historic value because they come from an era when the Italian territory was ruled by noble persons belonging to the Savoy dynasty.

However, this under-appreciation will not last for an extended period of time and demand will increase for the 20 Lire Carl Albert gold coin and at that point its premium will increase and then it will be a really profitable coin.
