The new Canadian rare coin is distinguished in particular by the exceptional attention to detail in the design and by its filigree elaboration. The coin motif on the back shows a single maple leaf in the form of a snapshot. The leaf appears to be floating down from the sky toward a watery surface. The Canadian artist Lilyane Coulombe has captured the exact moment in which the tip of the leaf touches the surface of the water. The leaf is reflected on the surface of the water and touches its own reflection with a single leaf tip, so that the water appears to be set in motion with uniform radial lines. The level of detail with which the Canadian artist has drafted this motif is impressive. Both leaves show the finest leaf veins and leaf structures, the depiction of the water is characterised by a high level of three-dimensionality, the depth of the water is almost tangible and makes the coin hugely effective. The background also shows a plant-rich lake shore, which appears to gently separate the main motif from the horizon. An inscription states 2015 as the year of issue, "CANADA" as the country of issue and the coin's nominal value of 200 dollars. This information is located above the motif and is gently reflected in the water below. The front of the coin shows the classic and traditional image of the British Queen Elizabeth II as represented by Susanna Blunt, wearing a pearl necklace and pearl earrings. In contrast to the motif side, the obverse is very simple, just stating the name of the depicted "ELIZABETH II D G REGINA". The edge of the coin is uniformly notched, as is usual for all Commonwealth coins.
