This unique history and the fact that the Somalia Silver Elephant is a product of the Bavarian State Mint, an institution that is known globally for its exceptional quality control, all contribute to the coin's popularity.
For 2018, the mint has chosen an image of a bull elephant, tusks facing forward. The majestic animal's trunk is raised as if it is trumpeting to the herd and it curls towards the coin's rim.
