A colored version of the hero, Spider-Man, is pictured on the reverse of the coin. Everybody knows the story of Peter Parker, who was given powers by a bite from a radioactive spider. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko began the phenomenon in 1962 in Amazing Fantasy No. 15 and Spider-Man #1, as a single character, was released in March, 1963. The success of the comic was immediate.
A profile of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse and each coin comes incapsulated in a graphic decorated tin box that includes a certificate of authenticity with a copy of Stan Lee's signature.
