Design of 2015 Silver American Eagle Coins

The obverse side of the silver American Eagle features the “Walking Liberty" designed by Adolph A. Weinman. The image depicts Lady Liberty walking through an open field to meet the sun. Given Lady Liberty is a replica of the Greek goddess Athena, she is dressed in traditional Greek war toga brandishing an oak and olive branch. The US national flag bellows in the background.

On the reverse side is the familiar symbol of the American Eagle, a bird of prey that has become synonymous with the United States. The design was created by John Mercanti and depicts the spread-eagle with a shield over its chest and brandishing arrows clenched between the left claw and the olive branch in the right. Above the eagles head is a pyramid of 13 stars which represent the 13 original colonies. The “W" mint mark indicates the coins were manufactured at the US Mint facility in West Point.

History of 2015 Silver American Eagle Coins

Silver American Eagles first made an appearance in 1981 under the Reagan administration with a long-term view of balancing the budget. Although things went wrong for government plans, the popularity of the silver eagle soared and it continues to be one of the leading sellers of silver bullion in today's market. The coins are made from 0.999 fine silver under the direction of US Congress and each coin only contains silver that was mined in the United States, making them the purest all-American coins offered to the public.

How could you go wrong with this coin? this is a great coin to have and rest safe knowing you got the best of the best, it sell very quick in comparison with other bullion coins.

In my opinion, the most attractive government-issued silver coin. It is also one of the largest in diameter and appears slightly more substantial than the Canadian Maple which is also very popular.

However, premiums are higher than most Government coins but they are easier to sell and the most recognisable silver coin.

Would form a good basis for a investment/collection silver portfolio
