With the American Silver Buffalo, the Sunshine Mint honours the Native Americans and one of their sacred animals, the buffalo. The front of the 1 ounce silver round is adorned with the head of an Indian in profile wearing a feather headdress and on the back there is an American buffalo. Both motifs embody in a unique way the freedom and ease of the North American prairie.
The design can be traced back to the famous sculptor James Earle Fraser (1876-1953) and is based on an historical nickel (minted 1913-1938).
We receive the 1 ounce American buffalo as a new item directly from the USA. The purity is 999/1000 and is inscribed on the reverse side of the coin. The round does not bear a nominal value.
