5 oz Denali National Park, Alaska Silver 2012

In April 2010 a quarter-dollar series under the name "America the Beautiful" was started, which continues the hugely successful Federal US States-quarter dollar series. Until 2021 a total of 56 coins will be published - five coins per year.

Per year five motifs each will honor national parks and other national sites of the individual states and the U.S. territories (such as Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands). The coins appear in order of the date on which they were placed under federal supervision. Thus, the Hot Springs Park in Arkansas, which was founded in 1832, started off the series in the first quarter of 2010. The Denali National Park 5oz silver coin was published in 2012 as the fifth coin of 2012 by the Pennsylvania Mint and is part of the "America the Beautiful" silver coin series - a series which is also known as "National Park Silver Coin Series".

The Act of 2008 specifies the purity and weight of these American coins.

The “America the Beautiful” Denali National Park 5oz silver coin weighs 155.50 grams with a diameter of 3 inches and a purity of 999/1000 pure silver.

The obverse of the “America the Beautiful” Denali National Park 5oz silver coin is characteristic for the head side of the coins belonging to this series, depicting the majestic John Flanagan portrait of George Washington, facing left, alongside the inscriptions: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” (the issuing country), ”LIBERTY”, “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “QUARTER DOLLAR” (the denomination).

A design emblematic of the national park and preserve is shown on the reverse of the Denali National Park silver coin. It showcases a Dall sheep (also called Alaska snow sheep, a kind of sheep that live in the North-West of North America and are named after the American naturalist William Healey Dall) in the foreground and the famous Mount McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America, behind it. Surrounding the image are the inscriptions: “DENALI”, “ALASKA” (the region where this park is located), “2012” )the issuing year) and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. The scene was designed by Susan Gamble and engraved by Jim Licaretz.

When it comes to the silver bullion coins belonging to this series illustrating the most beautiful parks and recreational areas of America, we are talking about a scarce mintage. Just 35,000 coins were released, which spikes the interest of collectors and investors because they all know that the value of the “America the Beautiful” Denali National Park 5oz silver coin will increase in the future. As a consequence, any investor and collector that wants to own a coin with limited mintage and with high bullion characteristics like the “America the Beautiful Denali National Park 5oz silver coin should take advantage of the opportunity while the price for these coins is still affordable.

The “America the Beautiful” series is just the perfect opportunity for collectors and investors to invest into this highly sought commodity, silver.
