The coin has a limited mintage of 10 000 coins and features one of the most distinctive fishes in the Caribbean Sea. The image of the predatory Lionfish swimming over a coral floor on the reverse side of the coin is an eye-capturing image. The observe side of the coin displays the Barbados coat of arms along with the face value and purity. On either side of the shield are the supporters of a dolphin, which is symbolic of the fishing industry and on the left is the Pelican, after Pelican Island.
