This very rare coin, the 100 peruvian soles mixed years was minted between 1950 and 1970 by the Lima Mint. The Mint is also known as the Casa Nacional de Moneda and is located on the corner of Jr. Junín and Jr. Paruno in Lima.

The Incas had a special relationship with gold, as it served as a mediator between God and man. The Inca tribe emerged from the Peruvian highlands in the early part of the 13th century and expanded across western South America until they were conquered by the Spanish in the late 1500’s. Peru gained independence from Spain in 1821, but this was not officially recognized by Spain until 1879. Peru is one of the countries with the richest gold deposits on earth.

Here you have the opportunity to purchase one of the greatest coins created by the Lima Mint, the beautifully designed 100 peruvian soles mixed years made with 90% pure gold.

The reverse side of the coin shows the image of a sitting lady Liberty in a flowing dress with a shield in her right hand and in her left hand a scepter topped by a Liberty hat. The shield is emblazoned with a radiant sun.In front of Liberty is a column topped with a wreath and wrapped with a ribbon on which is written the word “LIBERTAD”. The date of issue can be seen at the bottom of the coin.

The obverse is emblazoned with the coat of arms of Peru, which is represented with Peruvian symbols. To the right is the Peruvian national tree (a quina tree), and below is a cornucopia overflowing with coins, symbolizing Peru’s great wealth of precious metals. Finally the lama, beautiful creature symbol of Peru is found on the left of the quina tree. On the outer periphery are the words "REPUBLICA PERUANA" and "LIMA" (for the Lima Mint).

An unusual fact is that Peru minted gold coins as circulation coins only until 1970. It means that these coins are rare and highly sought-after. If you have the chance to purchase one, just like on Stonex Bullion today, do not miss it!
