With the 2016 Maple Leaf Gold, one of the most renowned investment coins in the world has been issued for the 37th time by the Royal Canadian Mint. Thus, it is a few years older than the Maple Leaf silver, which has only been issued since 1988. As with many investment coins, the design of the Maple Leaf has remained almost unchanged since its introduction. Only the portrait of the Queen is updated on a regular basis, most recently in 2015. Two years previously, a radial pattern was added as the background to the portrait and the maple leaf on both sides of the coin, which increased the forgery protection significantly.
The smaller denominations of the coin in particular are ideal for diversifying a portfolio and paying the lowest possible surcharges on the spot price. Take the opportunity to purchase the Maple Leaf today, not just in the 1/10 ounce denomination but in the 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/20 oz denominations too.
