The design of the reverse is the creation of artist Tong Fang who prior to designing the coin has made sure she visited wildlife panda refuge. She studied the pandas and made sketches there. The engraver then interpreted the drawings and did a fantastic job in depicting the panda’s fur, the tree trunk and the details of the two pandas. The scene depicts two young pandas in a tree: one is already in the tree and reaching out with its paw to the second one climbing up the tree. According to the artist, the two pandas are brother and sister (remember, the ones who were playing in the snow in 2022) and are now capable of finding food for themselves.
