15g China Panda Gold Coin 2023

The 2023 15g Gold Panda coins are struck from 24 carat (0.999 fine) gold and have a face value of 200 Yuan. Each coin contains fifteen grams (0.48226 troy ounces) of the precious metal and you have the opportunity to purchase it on StoneX Bullion today.

Since 1982 when it was first minted, this series has been a success with collectors and investors alike. The design changes every year which is rare in the numismatic world. And who doesn’t love a panda?

Panda bears come from the mountainous regions of central China, are herbivorous and have a very kind and docile nature. Their easy-going nature makes them really endearing and they highly deserve being pictured on a coin !

Each coin features engravings of giant pandas climbing a tree on the reverse side. A panda is reaching out for another panda laying on a tree's branch and surrounded by foliage. The designer Tong Fang described the scene as “accompanying love” and says that the two pandas are the brothers and sisters which were featured in the 2022 and which were playing in the snow. They have grown and are able to look for food on their own. The details of the design is not short of amazing, from the fur on the paws, the tree trunk or the look between the two pandas. The reverse features the denomination and weight of the coin, as well as the purity of the kind of precious metal used in the coin.

The obverse of each coin depicts the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the main structure of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, along with the country's official name and the year of issuance. This design remains a constant feature year after year. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is a circular pavilion, with a diameter of 32 meters and a height of 38 meters. It sits on a huge, round, white marble platform called the Altar for Grain Prayers. The base measures an impressive 5900 square meters; it is 6 meters high and is formed by three levels surrounded by carved white marble railings.

Did you know?

Gold Panda coins are minted from several mints each year. Those mints include but are not limited to Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Shenyang. These Chinese Mints do not incorporate mint marks to distinguish the difference between each mint every year. Some years such as 1987 do feature a “Y” mint mark or “S” mint mark.

This 2023 design of the 15g panda gold coin is very exciting, beautiful and super cute. Should you want to acquire for its qualities as much as its look, please note that it is very sought after by collectors because of the limited annual mintage and varying design. It also fetches considerable premiums in the secondary market. And if it wasn’t enough, alongside the American Eagle, the Canadian Maple Leaf, the South African Krugerrand and the

Australian Kangaroo coin, the Chinese Gold Panda is one of the five most highly respected

investment coins in the world.
