South African Krugerrand

The South African Krugerrand is undoubtedly the best-known gold coin in the world. With a market share of 60 percent on the German market, it has become indispensable for German investors and is regarded as the epitome of gold investments in coins.

Exactly 51 years after the 1 oz Gold Krugerrand, the South African mint Rand Refinery presents the 1oz Silver Krugerrand as an investment coin for the global market. This coin is also the first of its kind to be released in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, which is known as bullion coin or the mint-state. On the surface of the coin presents the portrait of Paul Kruger who was the president of South Africa in the late 1800s, eventually his name being used as a part of the Krugerrand coin. On the back represents a Springbok antelope, which is referred to as South Africa´s national animal running across the vast Savannah. On the same side it also states the year of mintage, name, and weight of the coin in both English and Afrikaans.

With a face value of one edge, the coin is official currency, which distinguishes the coin from a medal.

In Germany, the Silver Krugerrand will compete with the 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin, which is very popular in this country. The Canadian silver coin is the silver counterpart to the Gold Krugerrand with a market share of approx. 35 percent in Germany. On the other hand, with having a very high expectancy from the world, the 2018 1 oz. Silver Krugerrand will surely raise its value within months as fast as the previous years edition. Despite these products being very competitive, silver in general is currently at a very affordable price. It is definitely the best time to start investing and trading in silver and other precious metals.

coininvest.com has been registering increased searches on its website for months regarding the 1 oz Silver Krugerrand. The coin was actually expected to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2007, but was celebrated later on in 2017 when the company released its 50th anniversary edition of the Gold Krugerrand coin. As a celebration to this, the company published one million pieces of a silver edition of the Krugerrand coin. It was in premium uncirculated condition composed of one ounce of .999 fine silver. Due to thee limited numbers produced, the price of the Silver Krugerrand rose within weeks nearly reaching twice its original value.
