About the Little Aussies in Gold and Silver

By StoneX Bullion

Limited Little Aussies in Gold and Silver

Little Aussies in gold and silver were minted in 2011 by the Perth Mint, the Australian Mint, with the occasion of the Perth Mint participating to the 2011 ANA World's Fair of Money in Chicago. This special occasion only determined a mintage of 2,000 little Aussies in gold and silver. Even though the mintage is scarce, these little Aussies in gold and silver which are miniature coins are extremely beautiful.

These gold and silver coins were given an appropriate name of little Aussies in gold and silver due to their small sizes. These special two coins are the 99.9% pure silver made Australian Koala 2011 with the size of 1/10oz and the Kangaroo or the 2011 Mini Roo which was manufactured from 0.5 grams of 99.99% pure gold.

The little Aussies in gold and silver are both legal tender in Australian under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The pure silver coin, also known as the Pure Silver Koala, has the face value of 10 cents.

Besides these, there is the fact that coins made of pure gold and pure silver have been produced in a set, a bimetal set, and are available to investors, collectors, and enthusiasts from all over the world.

For a small price, investors or numismatists get a pure gold Mini Roo plus a pure silver dime and that at a scarce mintage, all that just by buying the little Aussies in gold and silver.

Design of the Little Aussies in Gold and Silver

Little Aussies in gold and silver feature one of the two favorite animals of the Australians, a koala on the silver coin and a kangaroo on the gold coin.

The reverse of the little Aussies in silver depict a baby koala that together with its mother watch the atmosphere from a eucalyptus tree. Koala represents one of the international known symbols of Australia. By putting a mother koala with her baby in an adorable posture on the reverse of the little Aussies in gold and silver, it has made the koala even more renowned.

The reverse of the little Aussies in gold presents another loved Australian symbol, maybe even more famous than the koala. We are talking about an adult kangaroo in a classic pose struck on the reverse of a 24 carat purity gold bullion coin.

Both the reverse of the little Aussies in gold and silver also include the letter P coming from the Perth Mint.

The common obverse of the little Aussies in gold and silver illustrates the crowned Queen Elizabeth II. Her profile is facing right. On the obverse there also appear the denomination and the issuing date.
